The Eighties - generally

For me, the eighties were a blur.  What with all the nuclear paranoia, MTV, MuchMusic, synthpop, heavy metal "hair bands", constant partying, serial relationships and such.  It was quite the time.  We had policians and world leaders like Ronald Reagan, Margaret Thatcher  and even Brian Mulroney here in Canada.  Video arcades were all the rage.  You might have even had a home computer like a Commodore 64.  The compact disc was NEW!  There was the video format "war".  Does anyone remember RCA's "SELECTAVISION" or even the LASERDISC?   [Yes, the RCA CED {Capacitance Electronics Disc} Selectavision was different than the LASERDISC.]  In  the videotape format, even though BETA was the superior  format, VHS eventually won out.  There were many incompatable formats in those days.  Unless you had lots of disposable cash, the best choice was to wait until the manufacturers came up with a standardized format, before spending lots of money on the next new electronic device.
